Biography
John Garrett provides strategic advice to political and corporate leaders around the world. He has a track record of success, spanning 6 continents and over two dozen countries. Since joining the firm in 2004, Garrett has led the firm’s efforts for and worked directly with many of our highest profile international political leaders, including the historic victories of Prime Minister Julia Gillard of Australia (2010), President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia (2008), President Traian Basescu of Romania (2009), Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer of Austria (2006), and others.
Garrett also leads the firm’s corporate practice, translating the lessons from hard-fought, winner-take-all political campaigns to corporate success. He specializes in reputation, brand, and communications strategy—helping companies of all sizes rehabilitate reputations, create and refresh brands, and improve messaging to target audiences. His US and international clients, present and past, include Microsoft, BP, AT Kearney, Cerveza Real (Bolivia), Mendocina soda (Bolivia), and Bank of Georgia among others.
He also deep experience leading complicated qualitative and quantitative research programs—whether in a difficult environment like rural Kenya, or a complex multi-geography research program involving simultaneous qualitative and quantitative tracks. Garrett has written, managed, and analyzed hundreds of surveys on a wide variety of subjects and has personally overseen hundreds of focus groups in more than 20 countries.
Prior to joining Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, Garrett worked in research and policy analysis at Mitsubishi International Corporation. He received BAs in International Studies and in German from Austin College.
